Abstract:

Foreign language teaching can make great advances through the use of new educational media. The new interactive videodisc systems can be particularly  helpful in making this progress. Unfortunately,  the implementation of this new educational media is being done with the "rear-view  mirror" approach spoken of by McLuhan. That is, this new media is being used with the methods of older, different media. Instead, it should be used in conjunction with a new methodology which could better capitalize on the great potential which this new media has. A model is described for this new methodology.
