Book: Jews

Chapter: 10. Are Jews Collectively Responsible for Israeli military actions?

DOI: 10.1558/equinox.35991

Blurb:

It makes no sense to blame the Jewish people for

the actions of Israel. Jews living in the diaspora

have no influence on Israeli policy. It is important

to remember that Israel is a democracy, and that

Israeli society is deeply divided politically. In Israel

itself these various factions press for dramatically

different solutions to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Consequently, given the political divide that

exists in Israel, it would be a fundamental error

to criminalize all Jews for the actions of the current

Israeli government.
