This chapter discusses the role of CMC among L2 learners in facilitating communicative competence through meaningful practice, with the goal of developing literacy skills for authentic communication in real-world L2 contexts. Pedagogical guidelines are provided for task-design, implementation and assessment; challenges, solutions and suggestions for future research are also addressed.
