The overarching inquiry that guides this chapter is how the mind captures realities in the world, and the internal and external foundations which guarantee truth and justify our correct pursuit of it. While using familiar concepts from contemporary epistemology such as truth conditions and justification, the focus here is on some of the fundamental differences between epistemology in Islamic and contemporary Western contexts.
