THE MASTERING PROCESS AND THE SYSTEMS MODEL OF CREATIVITY
Issue: Vol 8 No. 4 (2008)
Journal: Perfect Beat
Subject Areas: Popular Music
Abstract:
Finally in this issue Phillip McIntyre applies Csikszentmihalyi’s systems model of creativity to the collaborative, multi-contributor aspect of the creation and production of popular music, with a focus on the mastering process. Popular music matters, and here it matters for key personnel involved in its creation, not
only as an artform but also a livelihood. Through pivotal interviews with key historical figures in Australia, this article represents an important case study for the history of popular music in Australia and its place in the international industry.
